Section 4: Pre-Launch - Publicity and Social Media

Now that you understand some of the foundational work you need to do for pre-marketing your book, it's time to move forward into setting up the "ongoing" tools in your marketing toolkit—publicity and social media.

Both publicity and social media can feel very overwhelming to authors if they don’t have any experience with them. In this video, we’ll talk about:

  • The benefits of hiring a publicist

  • How to know if a formal publicity campaign is right for you

  • How to choose a social media platform and plan to match your goals

  • The importance of authenticity of your content, as well as consistency

The best part is that publicity and social media are completely up to you. If the thought of starting a social media account to connect with potential readers fills you with dread, don’t do it!

The most important thing is that you make a plan that works for YOU and helps you meet your specific goals.
